In the situation, one must tell his troops that it might be survive. Advance quickly to the opponent. Carefully expend all of the resources in his attempt to win. NEVER, ever accept a slow and painful death. Take out as much of their manpower and resources as possible. Pursue and Neutralize the chief thinkers and officers immediately.

Sun Tzu said, "On deadly ground, do battle."

The general knows that on deadly ground the army has to fight with every once of its energy to punch its way out of a “survive or die” situation. The general needs to pick her targets and hit them with everything that she has. In this situation the general must parallel process information and remain thinking while she is fighting.

I don't think I could say it any better than Cardinal.

When fighting, fight hard fast and smart. This is not a time to hide and think that you will not be missed

Since it's do or die expend all necessary resources because there is no tommorrow unless this battle is won.

Our survival is truly on the line in deadly ground. This will be a bloody battle. The only option in this scenario is overwhelming victory. We must spare no expense to annihilate our opponent in no uncertain terms.

This is one of the worst case senario that could happen.

On this ground, made it clear to yourself or to whom it may be concerned that the only way out is to fight.

The choice is yours. Fight or death.

Thus, it is often wise not to push enemies into this ground.
For those who are facing death will always show enormous strength that we have not seen before.

Death is their unity strength.
Breaking this will is like breaking a bunch of chopstick.

Therefore, it is wise to leave an opening for them.
Their will, their mind will be focusing on that opening and their untiy wil be concentrating on the opening.

That is also why Sun Tzu suggest that to let routed enemies go and to hold fortification if enemies are superior only in small numbers
