"The ruler may not move his army out of anger; the general may not do battle out of wrath."
Should an enemy do battle out of anger, their true resolve and means of fighting are eluded and they become vulnerable.
"For those of choleric temper, try to agitate them."
Those choleric warriors such as Lu Bu or Zhang Fei, often had their enemies attempt to destroy them with their temper. By either taunting, turning their men against them, or just refusing to fight. Those like Zhang Fei and Lu Bu had a strong taste for battle, and anger often makes one impatient.
Even those whose temper is a usually well retained one, such as the case with Liu Bei, anger can elude them and make them think only of vengeance. They think not of the advantage to themselves, but what will most hurt the enemy. In this case, even if one knows their enemy, they don't know themselves. If they know their enemy and not themselves, they shall win one and not the next. Don't base your logic on feelings; the latter is a very powerful ally; terrible foe.
