If the enemy is prepared, and you advance and are not victorious, it will be difficult to go back; this is disadvantageous.

Through his or her network of spies The Supreme Strategist (SSG)knows when the enemy is prepared. He is aware of the possibility of bait and switch tactics by the enemy. He is also aware once the army is released toward a target. It is very difficult to pull them back.
"Releasing the army towards a target" takes a lot of time and resources. |

Sun Tzu said, "If the enemy is prepared, and you advance and are not victorious, it will be difficult to go back; this is disadvantageous."
The general knows that if her forces are not successful in the execution of an assault from entrapping ground then she will lose critical resources and will continue be in a dangerous position until she extracts her force from the disadvantageous ground. |

Only in the most dire circumstances would one launch an assult on a prepared enemy. Much of this logicy is dependant upon the opponent being ill prepared to launch a counteroffensive or mount much of a defence in the first place.
I f if ind myself in this position I would conclude that either I have swallowed my opponents bait or I have done insufficient analysis of his position strength. To launch this in an ground where a safe retreat is difficult multiplies my losses. As far as I can tell this is poor development of my planning if these are the situations I am finding myself in. Bad for me good for my opponent. Pawn12 |
