From their knowledge, you can obtain local and internal spies. From their knowledge, the dead spies can spread misinformation to the enemy. From their knowledge, our living spies can be used as planned. The ruler must know these five kinds of espionage.

It's like a pyramidal effect. One type recruits the other and enhances your own intelligence network. Working in conjunction they can be a great asset.

Sun Tzu said, "From their knowledge, you can obtain local and internal spies. From their knowledge, the dead spies can spread misinformation to the enemy. From their knowledge, our living spies can be used as planned. The ruler must know these five kinds of espionage."
The ruler must know what the five kinds of espionage are but the general must know how to turn the information into advantages and exploit the weakness of the opposition. |

The information we gather is useless if not applied effectively. We must know how to use the information against our opponent in order for our efforts to pay off. |

I would think that a master espionage controler would use his/her network much in the same way a conductor would lead his orchestra or a painter combine the the colors on his palate.
By this I mean he would augment their interconnectednes to bring about their greatest strengths with which to achieve the desired effect. pawn12 |
